Scampia, Naples
Scampia is the district at the north of Naples that has become a symbol of urban decay in recent years, and one of the largest drug-dealing arenas in Italy, some say the world’s largest open-air drug market. In Scampia Matteo Garrone set his 2008 movie “Gomorrah”, telling the war of the Camorra clans for the control of drugs and prostitution. Still, in Scampia thousands of ordinary people live, struggling every day in order to survive with dignity and hope in one of hardest Italian neighborhood.
