Sten is the most famous Roman street artist. His works are spread throughout the city, with higher concentrations in the San Lorenzo university area and in the suburbs, exposed to the everyday life of Rome and, because of this, often intended for a very short lifetime. He started working at the "stencils", with a spray technique common in the military world to make graffiti in an easy and fast way. Now he works at huge posters that he pastes up mainly by night. The subject of his works can be divided into three categories: movies and characters of the seventies, Catholic iconography, and snapshots of his personal life. His production, getting larger and larger, has a wide visibility. It's very common to see huge posters signed by Sten portraying faces, saints, and one girl - always the same. I chose to tell the private life of a relatively anonymous artist who does not like to show off, despite doing several personal and collective exhibitions in the past few years, signaling a more and more common transition from the "street" to the "gallery", and therefore from the illegal to the institutional.
